The season is here. The lights are strung up, the kids spirits are lifted. I do have to say, even with my little exhaustion, I feel the magic in the air. Inspired to take fun pictures of the lights around the house, inspired to go home and make something….but what?!?
A blog I follow; The Suburban Diary had a great DIY article about making Christmas time decorations. I love to create and use inspiration from my surroundings. I am usually not a recepy following kind of girl. I like creating from my own imagination. But this particular project, seemed like fun. But like everything else, I had to make it my own so I took the liberty of getting creative.
Ingredients (according to DIY):
Pine cones
Silver Spray paint
White spray paint
Copper spray paint
Empty cans
Between our yard and my girlfriend, next door’s, yard I collected about fifteen pinecones. Our littlest monster takes special formula, so I began gathering the cans when empty, and I have recently made dinner that involves mostly canned goods, chillie; tomato sauce, corn, baked beans; so I can complete my little collection to spray paint. While gathering all of the sudgested ingresients for the DIY project I started thinking of what else I can make. I have always wanted to make a reath for the season, but i didn’t and don’t, want to make it round. Also, now that silver and white spray paint is involved in the process I decided that a little treasure hunt was in order. I made a little list and took our second smallest monster out on a nature scavenger hunt.
Ingredients ( I added)
Branches adorned with moss and fungi (orange, white and green)
Logs
Random pine tree branches
Hemp
In two nights after the kids went to bed the projects began in the garage.
Now all I really want to do is spray paint everything silver…hmm! 😉
These are all complete… I am going to spray paint the rest of the cans and drill holes. This way we can put little candles and bring some sparkle in the house. Can’t wait to take pictures when they are all lit up.
